The sports coach of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Mr. Etim Ettah, expressed his dissatisfaction on students' lack of interest in sporting activities. He said few students have been involved in sporting activities lately which is not encouraging.
In his words, “look at other schools today, you will see
young people representing their schools in competitions. I don’t know why young
people here are like that.”
“They say there is no time, Assignments! Assignments!
Assignments! But don’t forget, there is always time for everything”.
He shifted the blame on sports directors on their inability
to create sufficient awareness among the students.
Speaking with him concerning the concentration of students on football alone, he said, "it depends on the students interest but next week we will set up the indoor games like ayo, scrabble, chess, draft, ludo, and the likes"
