Farewell Speech by Uwala , Samson A. (Former Governor, HND 1)
Good afternoon my fellow colleagues, now so much have
happened in short time and I now understand better that it is not how far but
how well to be a leader, and also by the grace of Almighty God.
Nevertheless, I am now ready to take-up myself and bring out
the real and best of me in every situation, in which I may be involved in or
found myself. However, during the interactive forum, some of the allegations
leveled against me were true, while some were misconceptions, therefore I implore
you my fellow colleagues to assist in goods ways by encouraging me when am
doing the right things and call to my attention when am on the wrong path; as
it is in this way that I can become more useful to myself and the society at
large.
Even though, in the past, I might not have listened to
advice but I promise to make good use of good advise. As, sometimes, my voice
may be loud when I talk at times but that does not mean am shouting or raising
my voice, it is just when the issue gets high.
My fellow colleagues it will be very interesting and also
necessary to know that for me to have resigned or maybe get impeached doesn’t
mean I am bad or worthless leader, but there
might have facilitated or caused the challenges faced during my administration;
also it is worthy to know that it is my ability and competencies that have
compelled you to have elected me as your leader earlier, but if it is the other
way round, I won’t have been as your governor.
Also, it is in this vein that I realized that my image and
reputation is about to be washed away by negative words. I, therefore, implore
you my fellow colleagues towards helping me against these negative words, as I promised
to act positively.
Thanks you all for your cooperation, contributions and
prayers in my administration and even till today; as am equally wishing the new
administration very successful, fruitful and favourable governance.
